Dissertation writing
The first edition of Locke, Spirduso, & Silverman’s Proposals that Work broke ground for academic publishing of reader friendly books offering advice to graduate students on thesis, dissertation and proposal writing. I’ve listed a few titles below. New venues entering this academic publishing pipeline include Youtube videos. Below is an engaging example of Peg Boyle Single discussing why she wrote Demystifying Dissertation Writing. I especially appreciate her candor in describing how she had struggled as a writer.
Biklen, S. K., & Casella, R. (2007). A practical guide to the qualitative dissertation. New York: Teachers College Press.
Glatthorn, A. A., & Joyner, R. L. (2005). Writing the winning thesis or dissertation: a step-by-step guide (2nd ed.). Thousand Oaks, Calif.: Corwin Press.
Hart, C. (1998). Doing a literature review: releasing the social science research imagination. London ; Thousand Oaks, Calif.: Sage Publications.
Locke, L. F., Spirduso, W. W., & Silverman, S. J. (2007). Proposals that work: a guide for planning dissertations and grant proposals (5th ed.). Thousand Oaks: Sage Publications.
Rudestam, K. E., & Newton, R. R. (2007). Surviving your dissertation: a comprehensive guide to content and process (3rd ed.). Los Angeles: SAGE Publications.
